The world is a wonderful place to be, and today more than any previous time in history it is possible to make it even greater by improving our relationships with each other as human beings.
Some of us are fortunate to live in developed countries with all the bells and whistles it offers, but some of us do not even have clean, safe drinking water available, and those people’s struggle to simply live and raise a family is beyond our imagination. Some of the factors for this are local or world conflicts; conflicts that are created when there is a dispute whether regional, ethnic or merely negative mind-sets we have inherited from past generations and ancient conflicts.
Michael Renner, wrote in Vital Signs 2003 "Roughly one-quarter of the
world’s fifty wars and armed conflicts of recent years have involved a struggle
for control of natural resources. Virtually all of these conflicts have occurred
in poor countries where a particular ethnic group or economic elite has gained
control of resources at the expense of the poor majority."
For millions of years, there were fewer than 10 million human beings on Earth at any one time. But over the last two centuries, the world's population has skyrocketed. Our world has 6.4 billion inhabitants today. More than 3 billion will potentially be added to our human family over the next 50 years.
On any given day in our WORLD COMMUNITY, some countries are in a state of transition. Most of the time, the change is peaceful, but sometimes it is violent. Confrontations, armed conflicts, civil war, and aggression toward other nations are often part of the struggle. In many cases, the state in havoc affects and threatens the safety and well-being of other nations.
The end of the Cold War led to a widespread feeling of relief but not for long, as a whole range of difficult new issues came to the forefront: ethnic conflicts, refugees, terrorism, world security, poverty, human rights, war, major environmental issues, energy dependency, technology, and health care are just a few major problems with which the WORLD has been coping.
CULTURESonFILM is a large group of WORLD CITIZENS united to educate ALL PEOPLE about cultural diversity, ONE-ness, tolerance and harmony in an effort to end ethnic conflicts and cultural hatred. We believe that learning about and from each other we can make this WONDERFUL WORLD of ours a better place. WE can do it, TOGETHER.
